The flag you know today and the flag from when this nation was born are as different from each other as the country itself. Made out of polyester and nylon today, the original flag was made out of wool, cotton or linen, with silk reserved for the most special occasions. Sadly, most flags are made outside of the US these days, and out of foreign-made materials.
