Polish creative studio Zupagrafika designed Blokoshka , a refreshing and playful new take on the post-World War II landscape in Eastern Europe. Constructed from recycled cardboard , Blokoshka is a set of four build-it-yourself blocks crafted in the style of prefab modern architecture typical of the Eastern Bloc during the 1950s and 1980s. These Modernist Architectural Matryoshka blocks can be easily assembled without glue or scissors, and can be neatly placed inside one another. + Blokoshka The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Have you ever found yourself wandering around a city trying to find a recycling bin, only to have to stow that plastic food container in your backpack because you don’t want to pollute? Many American cities aren’t exactly ahead of the game when it comes to public recycling — they aren’t offered on every corner. But one startup is on a mission to facilitate recycling on city streets, simply by helping people find the bins. Their location-based mobile app called Intellibins helps you find the nearest recycling bin with step-by-step navigation, so you can always recycle no matter where you are. The current Intellibins app is available on iPhone and Android for all five boroughs of New York City. Let’s hope the idea catches on in other cities soon. + Intellibins The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Want to see your story on Inhabitat ? The design wunderkids over at Zupagrafika have worked their architectural magic yet again, this time creating small buildings that any hipster nuthatch would be happy to call home. The Hispano- Polish design collective transformed plywood nesting boxes into  prefab apartment blocks by stencilling patterns onto them with a LETRASET-like technique (popular in the 1960s and 70s), and adding additional textures and architectural elements for good effect. When complete, the nesting houses were hung on trees to make a fabulous modernist district for local wild birds. + Zupagrafika + Nesting Boxes on Behance The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
