MIT’s Self-Assembly Lab and Google teamed up to design this innovative system called Transformable Meeting Spaces. The structure can be pulled down from the ceiling to enclose a 10-feet-wide and 8-feet-tall space that can fit up to eight people. Users can simply push the structure up once the  meeting ends. Felt lines its interior in order to muffle the outside noise, while plywood sheets envelop the structure as an exoskeleton. + Self-Assembly Lab Via ZDNet

The sofa bed is a popular staple piece in many homes because of its versatility, but the transforming piece of furniture often leaves much to be desired in terms of style. Italian furniture company Flou’s Duetto, however, introduces elegance and improved functionality to the transformable sofa bed. The customizable Duetto easily transforms into two separate beds—the fixed bed-base and the trundle bed that fits underneath—or into a single double-size bed when the trundle bed is raised to the same height as the bed-base. The trundle bed can be swapped out for two shelving units and the structure comes with completely removable fabric covers. + Flou The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
