Designer Tristan Roland’s Music Box is a generic dining chair that was rescued from the trash and repurposed, with a record player built into the seat. Appropriated, morphed and recreated, Roland has given the discarded chair new life with added functionality. “Its original state as two separate objects, one being of a generic dining chair and the second, a discarded record player helps to portray the past, music and current issues of waste,” Roland writes. Who said battery-powered cars had to be boring? The “Nemesis”, a modified Lotus Exige , just broke the UK speed record for electric vehicles this morning! Engineered by renewable energy company Ecotricity , the car reached speeds of 151 mph at Elvington airfield in North Yorkshire and was driven by 21-year-old Nick Ponting. In addition to smashing records, the Nemesis is also shattering stereotypes about what it means to drive an electric vehicle.
