As planned , the record-breaking solar-powered plane Solar Impulse 2 is ready to launch and continue its flight around the globe. After weathering the winter in Hawaii and receiving upgrades, the plane is once again ready to travel longer distances. Pilots André Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard will announce today when the Solar Impulse 2 will soar to North America, dependent on weather conditions. Being buried alive is a nightmare scenario for many people, and few lucky souls live to tell after such an experience. This story, out of Tanzania, is one of the rare gems. Ending a 41-day saga that you probably haven’t even heard about, five trapped workers have been rescued from a gold mine 100 meters (328 feet) below the surface. They were trapped while trying to rescue another group of miners, who had become stuck in the mine after a shaft collapsed. Copenhagen is known for its bike-friendly culture, but the Copenhagen Gate project is going to take bike lanes to a whole new level – literally. Work is finally set to start on Steven Holl Architect’s project in Copenhagen , which will consist of two skyscrapers joined by a bike lane 213 feet in the air. The architect announced that construction could finally begin as early as 2016 and, once completed, the skyscrapers will act as a gate into the city with a bike lane and pedestrian bridge that will make the ones in your town look like child’s play.
