Brooklyn based Bjorn Qorn is making popcorn in the most spectacular way – using nothing but the sun. Gigantic reflectors collect the sun’s rays and focuses them onto a kettle of corn kernels, creating a totally unique sun-popped popcorn. The company is a test implementation of a new technique to build cheap solar mirrors. Since solar mirrors could be used for just about anything, Bjorn Qorn thought to themselves, why not start with popcorn? If you want to get a taste of the solar treat, the company is releasing a limited edition holiday popcorn tin that illustrates the ingenious process and makes a pretty cool gift. + Bjorn Qorn The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Are “green” buildings really the best for addressing climate change?

According to designer Bryn Davidson  of Lanefab Design/Build , “green” buildings can make a significant difference, but only if we start asking the right questions about them. In his recent TEDx talk in Vancouver, BC, Bryn  mentions the need for questions about what really makes “net-positive” change–to determine how buildings impact global climate, and what actions can be taken to reduce that impact. In his presentation , he addresses the fact that the biggest challenge may be shifting our current ideas about what it means to build “green”. Check out his video and website for more information. + Bryn Davidson TEDx Talk + Bryn Davidson at Lanefab Design/Build Images © Lanefab Design/Build Missing Attachment The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
