A team at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Spain has designed and developed a rolling spherical robot that could be used in a wide range of outdoor applications – including farming. The  Robotics and Cybernetics Research Group believes that their Rosphere robot could carry out tasks more efficiently than current robots that are designed to work on uneven and rural land. Photo via Shutterstock Bionic ears and eyes are already a reality, and with the strides made by a team of scientists at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology led by Professor Hossam Haick , artificial skin may soon become a possibility as well. The group was able to create a flexible sensor that could potentially be used to recreate the human body’s largest organ. The sensor can simultaneously collect data on temperature, pressure, and humidity and is 10 times more sensitive than similar technologies currently on the market. If the sensor could be integrated into e-skin, prosthetic limbs could one day be outfitted with the invention and made even more like a true extremity.
