Danish cycling brand KP Cykler is raising funds on Kickstarter for a beautiful bicycle hanger made out of wood, steel and recycled cork. Bike storage can be a tricky problem: most storage solutions are not aesthetically appealing and beg to be tucked away in some dark garage corner.  But KP Cykler team believes a special bicycle deserve a special place in our homes, which is the ultimate purpose of The Bike Hanger, because it is meant to be seen. Each hanger is handmade in Europe. The wooden back-plate and metal structure between the wall and bicycle stem is made by one of the founder’s family members. All assembly work is done by the two partners – Kaspar Peek and Gediminas Maslauskas. The handlebars and stem is supplied by a Taiwanese company, and recycled wine corks are used to add to the authentic look of the handmade Bike Hanger. The Bike Hanger is available now through Kickstarter for approximate 79€ or $87. Shipping is expected to start as early as October. + KP Cyckler Bike Hanger

Few things more annoying than trying to work in an environment where you can’t hear what your colleagues are saying. The Acoustic Factory has put a green twist on solving acoustic problems, producing soundproofing designs from natural materials. The products are either living plants, natural products, or recycled materials. The company collects corks that are thrown away in the Netherlands and turns them into interior products, and it even uses damaged incontinence pads to make soundproofing material. And the company’s award-winning Greenwalls are made of moss, which, because of its structure and density, has excellent soundproofing characteristics. + Acoustic Factory The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
