Twitter is reacting to Donald Trump’s EPA appointment of climate-denier Myron Ebell with the hilarious  #TrumpNarratesPlanetEarth. If you caught the BBC’s stunning documentary Planet Earth , you know the narration was just as incredible as the imagery. Now imagine that same narration in the voice of the future Climate Denier-in-Chief. It’s as amazing as it sounds. The Russian Elektro-L weather satellite sits 25,000 miles above the Indian Ocean, where it creates an astonishing 121 megapixel image of the Earth every 30 minutes. James Tyrwhitt-Drake from the University of Victoria in Canada has used these images to create a 4K timelapse video of our planet, and the result is pretty hypnotic. The DIY Pet House is an Animal Shelter Made From Recycled Bottles

Pet House is a conceptual sustainable DIY kit designed by Dr. Hakan Gürsu  that transforms  waste water bottles into a shelter for animals. Thanks to its easy assembly, anyone can build it for their pets, for strays, or even for wild animals to nest in. The set includes a base and a top made of chipboard, and interior grooved plastic elements for bottle placement. The bottles s erve as the walls of the shelter, and are filled with perlite for better heat insulation and stability. If desired, a larger plastic bottle can be attached on top of the structure to allow light in. Since the shelters blend in with their natural surroundings, burrowing animals can move into them, especially if the animal homes  are covered with soil and vegetation. The Pet House can be suspended in trees to provide shelter to wild birds, can be stacked to create a cat condo, and can even be used as a carrying cage. + The Pet House Missing Attachment Missing Attachment Missing Attachment Missing Attachment Missing Attachment The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Mind-blowing Photographs of Earth Taken From Space

Updated weekly, ESA’s Observing the Earth archive consists of thousands of photographs that date back to 2005. These Earth Observation images capture wide-angle snapshots of various landscapes with a precision that could only be matched by an “army of ground-level observers.” With incredible accuracy, these satellite images can capture environmental changes to the landscape in real-time, from a creeping blanket of air pollution to the catastrophic damage wrought by an earthquake. This long-term monitoring provides an objective assessment of human activity’s global impact and even the effects of climate change . Although satellite acquisitions are often depicted as static images, they are actually comprised of layers of workable digital data. Over time, the images collected can reveal the unfolding scale of environmental destruction and weather mapping and help contribute to environmental activism and identification of at-risk areas to natural disasters.
