Whether you’re on a bad date and silently wishing your phone would ring, or you find yourself in a more sinister setting, a new device and app pairing called Dorothy can help extract you from a sticky situation. Using a tiny device known as the Ruby that you simply slip into your shoe, Dorothy allows you to trigger a call to your phone from a fake contact (your “boss”) simply by tapping your heels together three times. Dorothy can also send texts and your location to your contacts, letting them know exactly where you are. Developer iStrategy Labs is also working on a partnership with Uber, so you’ll soon be able to hail a cab with just a few clicks of your heels!
