More Than Half of Londoners Could Have Their Groceries Delivered by EV in 2010

Sainsbury’s has been testing a fleet of 20 Smith Electric Vehicles for delivering groceries for several years and has found that they easily get the job done. Now it’s just ordered 50 more of the three and a half ton Edison vans—making the grocery chain (at least for now) the world leader in EV grocery deliveries.

Eco Factor: Concept vehicle integrated with hydroponic planters and water purification system. While millions of people living in underdeveloped regions lack access to fresh water and food, industrial designers have taken up the job to develop systems that can sort out the problems with minimum environmental impact. Industrial designer Nicolás Chacana has come up with a concept vehicle that can solve both these problems in a sustainable fashion

Ottawa’s "Green Bin" Municipal Composting Program is About to Take Off!
Photo: Michael Graham Richard Bring Out Your… Organic Waste Yesterday I got my green bin from the city of Ottawa. They’ve been handing them out to residents since September 2009 (except for those in a pilot program), and everybody should have one by December except for people living in high-rise buildings and residences with common pad collection (that will come later).
