As an instructor with over fifteen years of landscape design teaching experience, I have found that translating classroom learning to an online class actually enriches the experience of a landscape design class . An online forum provides a custom experience for each student at that student’s pace as his or her project develops, step by step and week by week. At the Boston Architectural College , online classes have a high student to faculty ratio, keeping the classrooms small and tailored to the individual like a seminar. North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH) and MODTriangle Realtors are holding an auction on eBay for a romantic weekend getaway for two at the Cassilhaus, an extraordinary modernist home in Durham, NC, designed by architect Ellen Cassily, AIA, and her husband, Frank Konhaus. The auction, which ends in just over a week on October 2, invites the highest bidder to spend October 25-27 in the couple’s gorgeous home/art gallery perched above a babbling brook among the trees of Duke Forest. All proceeds from the auction will go to benefit North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH) and Project BauHow, an educational initiative for 9th and 10th graders across North Carolina.
