Green design will save the world, and this year designers went all out with an incredible range of innovations. Sada brought us an incredible hubless folding bike  while Klemmens Torggler introduced the world to an origami-like folding door  and the Egloo room heater sparked a lively debate. When it came to re-designing the way we live, we saw a tiny trailer home with all the luxuries, woven refugee tents that get their power from the sun and a clever little microbus for the eco-traveller.  Tell us which design you think tops them all. At first glance, the Evolution Door designed by Austrian artist Klemens Torggler looks like a modern barn door, and we expected it to behave the same way – by simply swinging or sliding open. Boy were we wrong. As you can see in the video above, Torggler thought way outside the box when creating this fixture. With a single touch the Evolution Door splits apart into panels, glides across the wall and reassembles itself over the open doorway like a piece of origami. It’s completely mesmerizing: we could watch it open and shut all day! Read on to learn more about how the Evolution Door achieves this mind-boggling effect.
