Though it probably won’t be advertised on billboards around the English-speaking world any time soon, this kayak’s clever design will speak to paddlers in any language. The Boner Kayak, named for its Swiss inventor Hans Boner, breaks down into three pieces which slot together and can fit in the back seat of a car. This colorful display of 1,902 canoes and kayaks attempted to break the “largest raft” world record on Fourth Lake in New York’s Adirondacks this Spring. As rules stipulated it had to float freely for at least half a minute, the colossal structure was formed by participants skilfully getting close enough to hold each others hands and arms. In this photo taken from high above all you can see are the tiny details of such a huge number of canoes, almost resembling a ‘Where’s Waldo’ -style iconic image.
