Infiniti just unveiled its new Infiniti LE electric sedan concept at the 2012 New York Auto Show , and Inhabitat was on the scene to get the scoop on this gorgeous new electric vehicle. The Infiniti LE borrows styling elements from previous Infiniti concepts, but this time the overall design of the concept is closer to a model that can actually be produced – according to Infiniti it’s about 85 percent accurate to the production model. We were especially excited to find out that the car will use the world’s first home wireless charging system , and it will have an estimated 100-mile range. Iceberg photo from Shutterstock Climate change deniers often sing the frustrating song that carbon dioxide emissions are harmless , but a groundbreaking study by scientists at Harvard, the University of Wisconsin, and Oregon State University has produced a paper which the authors claim to be the first to “definitively show the role carbon dioxide played in helping to end the last ice age.” CO2 concentrations rose from 185 parts per million to 260 ppm over the roughly 10,000 years during which the last ice age ended, according to Physorg . Compare that with our man-made emissions, which have raised CO2 concentrations by the same amount in the past two centuries alone, and we all have something to be very concerned about. Hydrogen is a fuel that has seemingly limitless potential, but scientists have only been able to produce it from fossil fuels, like natural gas. That is, until now. A doctoral student in mechanical engineering at the University of Delaware has designed a new type of reactor that produces hydrogen using nothing more than concentrated sunlight, zinc oxide, and water. And best of all, the zinc oxide used by the reactor can be reused, meaning that once the reactor is up and running, it would be self-sustaining.
