The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists just issued their first update to the symbolic Doomsday Clock since 2012, announcing that we have advanced by two minutes and are now at “three minutes to midnight”—with midnight referring to the end of the planet. The reason for this alarming stance? “Unchecked climate change, global nuclear weapons modernizations, and outsized nuclear weapons arsenals pose extraordinary and undeniable threats to the continued existence of humanity,” explains the Bulletin . Architecture studio Alpestudio recently won Formabilio’s “Iron Age” metalworking contest with their design of Antia, a minimalist steel chair . As part of the grand prize, Formabilio worked with the designers to turn the proposed prototype into a finished product that is now available for purchase on the Formabilio website . An environmental group has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for not taking action on bisphenol A (BPA) in the 18 months since the group filed a petition demanding BPA be banned in food packaging.
