Wildfires continue to rage in Washington State this week, as two towns were evacuated in the eastern part of the state due to direct threat from the fires. Governor Jay Inslee also  announced yesterday that three firefighters have perished while fighting the blaze , and an additional four were injured near the eastern Washington town of Twisp. The Washington state Department of Natural Resources reportedly told Seattle’s KING5 News  that the Twisp fire exploded from 1,500 to 16,000 acres last night and officials are expecting the worst . Today, the only Cadillac vehicle available with an electrified powertrain is the ELR coupe , but Cadillac is about to expand its number of plug-in hybrid models. Cadillac has unveiled the first one with the debut of the CT6 plug-in hybrid at the Shanghai Motor Show . The CT6 plug-in hybrid runs on two electric motors, which are powerful enough to propel the large sedan over 37 miles in electric mode. Not to be outdone by Audi or BMW , Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to release 10 new plug-in hybrid models by 2017, with at least two of those models arriving this fall. That’s a new plug-in vehicle every four months. Mercedes-Benz has also announced that the new models will be designated with a simple “e” instead of the longer “plug-in hybrid” branding. The Birth of Marilyn is a wavy felt lamp shade inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s famous wind-blown dress. Danish design duo Iskos Berlin  made the lamp without the use of any glue or resin. Using a process called thermoforming, the designers create sensual shapes that look like they’re floating in mid air. The Birth of Marilyn enticed the curiosity of those visiting this year’s Milan Design Week . The United Kingdom ‘s first tram-train hybrid is currently being installed in Sheffield, England , and when it’s completed in 2016 the public transit line will provide a seamless transition from the national railway tracks to the existing city tracks of the Sheffield SuperTram .
