Photo via Shutterstock The Federal Emergency Management Agency just released a map of estimated flood zones in the United States for the year 2100—and it doesn’t look good. According to FEMA, we can expect a 45 percent increase in the area of the U.S. that will be at risk of major flooding – including almost half of the eastern part of the country, and much of the west. The agency also estimates that 11.2 million homes will be subject to the National Flood Insurance Program as “special flood hazard zones” almost double. Comments Off on Horizon Mass Transit System is an All-Electric Train-Plane Hybrid

The Horizon System is an entirely electric system of transportation conceived as a hybrid between a plane and a train. Thanks to a maglev-style mechanism, the large aircraft is able to pick up passengers inside the small SkyLink trains while both the plane and trains are in motion, eliminating the possibility of congestion at large airports and on highways. Unlike the Clip-Air —which is also a modular plane system—the Horizon System has no pilot, which means it could be the largest drone ever conceived. Chicago just launched its new Divvy bike share system on Friday after a two-week delay to address some of the problems New York faced with its new bicycle share program. Priced at just $7 per day for an unlimited number of trips up to 30 minutes each over a 24 hour period (after 30 minutes, additional fees apply), the bike share program is intended to offer a convenient alternative for trips slightly beyond walking distance but too short for transit or taxi.
