We followed NYC’s famed foraging experts Wildman Steve Brill and his daughter Violet Brill to discover six abundant and delicious plants nestled within the urban forestry of Prospect Park, right in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Nissan and  NASA have inked a new partnership to further research autonomous vehicles that could be used not only here on Earth, but also in space. The five-year research and development partnership between the two companies will see researchers from both testing a fleet of zero-emission autonomous vehicles, most likely modeled on the Nissan Leaf, at the Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. Scientists are investigating a mysterious slime that’s coating and killing San Francisco sea birds. First seen last Friday, the goop is coating hundreds of sea birds and killing “scores” of them, according to Reuters . Officials from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife are looking into the matter, with initial field testing of the substance coming back negative for petroleum. They’re hoping a more comprehensive laboratory analysis will give some more conclusive results. A policy paper released by the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says that climate change is posing a very real threat to the diversity of food crops. Researchers are concerned that many of the most commonly raised crops and livestock animals will not be able to adapt to rising global temperatures and volatile weather patterns.
