The World , Dubai’s artificial archipelago of over 300 islands, will soon be home to 33 luxury floating homes , each with its own garden, pool, and beach and tailor-made to the client’s tastes. Created as part of Oqyana World First, these private island homes were recently given the go-ahead by the Dubai-based government entity Nakheel. Architecture firm Waterstudio.NL collaborated with Jean-Michel Cousteau to design the floating islands, which will also be engineered to provide new underwater habitat for sea life. The ultra-aerodynamic Bluebird electric vehicle set out to set a new land speed record for the UK last Saturday, but the run resulted in a shockingly bad accident instead. The Bluebird reportedly struggled with poor visibility and struck a pothole, which sent the green EV sliding sideways at speeds of over 100 miles per hour over the slippery Pendine Sands in Wales. The Sharpshooter electric bike from designer Jurmol Yao is designed as a modern green vehicle for the Coast Guard to get search and rescue teams to the water more quickly than a traditional bike . But when they get there, the Sharpshooter’s front wheel also doubles as a lightweight, throwable life preserver, and the bike pedals and back wheel serve as a winch for pulling the device and victim back to safety.
