We’re all for living ‘au naturale’ but sometimes clothing made from natural materials can get a little weird. Like the show-stopping sand bathing suit that recently appeared on the runway during Bondi Bather’s presentation at an Australian fashion show. Yes you read that right: a bathing suit–and a tiny one at that– made from nothing but sand painted on model Imogen Anthony’s body in the shape of a halter top and string bikini bottom. Keep reading to see what the 23 year-old thought about performing with no clothes on. The glitz and glamour of New York Fashion week was interrupted by grim images depicting the reality of the fast fashion industry this week. Labor activists forced designers and fans to acknowledge their contribution to the suffering of those who were killed or injured by the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh. Labor activists were able to beam the faces of  Rana Plaza’s  victims onto the exterior of Lincoln Center during  New York Fashion Week . Protestors also marched upon The Children’s Place, one of several retailers that have failed to compensate victims of the disaster. Learn more about the protest and get and update on Rana Plaza by following the link below. Lots of little girl’s have dollhouses, but few have miniature creations as unique and wonderful as the one Lorraine Robinson built for her daughter. The crafty mom and owner of Fairy Meadow Miniatures wanted to give her daughter a special gift upon her departure for university. Rather than buy something at the store, she spent long hours transforming a used guitar into a magical home for a miniature musician. You won’t believe all the detail she was able to include–from a tiny family portrait on the wall and an armchair upholstered in music sheets. See more amazing pictures by following the link below. Last year’s horrifying Rana Plaza factory building collapse claimed over a thousand lives and left hundreds injured. Despite global outrage, only a third of the companies that used the Dhaka manufacturing facility have offered compensation to the Bangladeshi victims and families. To drum up attention to these unresolved problems and inspire reform, labor activists, including 99 Pickets and photojournalist Ismail Ferdous, set up a demonstration right outside of New York Fashion Week. Their moving installation projects the faces of the Rana Plaza victims onto the exterior of the Lincoln Center. U2?s Bono and his wife, Ali Hewson, are the founders of the African-focused fashion label EDUN , and true to its rocker heritage, EDUN’s Spring/Summer 2013 show at New York Fashion Week  was tough and girly, soft but also edgy. The duality of the “EDUN girl” was on full display, as olive-drab patchwork fraternized freely with parachute silks in stylized camouflage while hand-crocheted patterns, clung to swathes of broderie anglaise and combat organic cottons. See more EDUN’s world of contrasts and paradoxes at Ecouterre . Designer Suzanne Rae’s simple, strong collection looks bold and uncomplicated on the surface, but there’s a second-tier to the monochromes, neutrals and color block. Rae’s 2013 collection was inspired by the work of photographer Francesca Woodman . Woodman, who spent much of her career studying the multifaceted role of women, makes for a complex homage in Rae’s latest collection. With a parade of linen trouser suits, translucent drop-waist shirtdresses, puff-sleeve bonded-cotton sweaters, floral lace shorts, and giant flatform rope sandals, John Patrick brought Organic’s signature aesthetic to  New York Fashion Week  on Wednesday, and Ecouterre was on hand to document the show. Patrick’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection is inspired by the idea of the “urban commune,” and it is “not body conscious but conscious of the body,” Patrick says. Make of that what you will.
