Dubuc Motors just unveiled the Tomahawk – a 2+2 electric sports car that can go from 0-60 miles an hour in a zippy three seconds. Even more exciting, the car’s EPA-estimated range is a crazy 370 miles. The Tomahawk is manufactured entirely in North America, and the company reportedly spent 12 years researching and developing clean technology to create the green vehicle. Dubuc Motors ‘ Tomahawk feature sleek scissor doors, a panoramic roof, a built-in WiFi hotspot, hands-free voice commands, and a live 360 degree camera. Dubuc Motors has raised over $6 million in reservations . You can’t snag one of the cars quite yet, although you can reserve one for $5,000 on their website . There they offer six colors: green, black, two tone, red, yellow, and orange. British motoring company Morgan just announced plans to produce an all-electric version of their classic, sporty 3 Wheeler. The EV3 concept is the second electric vehicle from Morgan, and it’s based on the 3 Wheeler track car reintroduced by the company in 2011—over 100 years after H.F.S. Morgan created his first three-wheeled car as a personal runabout. Silicon Valley-based startup Renovo Motors just unveiled one of the world’s most spectacular all-electric sports cars: the Renovo Coupe. The Renovo Coupe borrows its chassis from the Shelby CSX 9000 and it’s powered by a 500 horsepower electric motor and a 740 volt battery pack. But all that power doesn’t come cheap – only 100 units are planned for production and prices start at an astonishing $529,000. After five years of silence, Detroit Electric has resurfaced with the announcement that they will debut a battery-powered two-seater sports car on April 3rd. Headed up by former Lotus executive and Managing Director of Apple’s Asia operations Albert Lam, Detroit Electric promises to be the fourth automaker to be born in Motor City , creating 180 jobs by the end of 2013 with a production capacity of 2,500 luxury electric vehicles each year. A123, the battery manufacturer that supplies power packs to Fisker Automotive , has admitted that some batteries installed in the Karma may malfunction due to misaligned hose clamps. The hose clamps could lead to a coolant leak, which in turn could cause an electrical shortage in the vehicle. A123 says that fewer than 50 Karmas were affected by the defect, and they’ve already begun fixing the issue. When complete, the project will include a host of sustainably built geodesic domes and yurts, as well as a forest garden, sheds, compost heaps, and much, much more. The sexy Tesla Roadster may be driving into the sunset in the coming months, but Fisker is just ramping up its competitor, the $100,000 Karma range-extended EV. The Karma already has 3,000 pre-orders and is expected to be sold out through early 2012, according to company CEO Henrik Fisker: “Our sales are split fifty-fifty between early-adopting car enthusiasts and total non-car enthusiasts who just like that we are bringing something totally new to market. The super sexy EV concept debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and has gone on to break six speed records for electric vehicles .
