There are two types of coffee lovers in the world: commercial café frequenters and coffee connoisseurs . If you fall into the latter category, or simply appreciate the alluring aroma of an excellent cup of Joe, this unique opportunity will surely get you percolating. Peet’s Coffee is offering a sweepstakes that will award three grand-prize winners an all-expenses-paid trip to Brazil with a guest, to get a true behind-the-scenes coffee experience at a working coffee estate. Bi-weekly prizes, including a Peet’s Tasting Journal or Peet’s Tumbler, will also be awarded beginning on January 23. Winners of the top prize will travel with Peet’s coffee buyer, Doug Welsh, to spend three days at the Monte Alegre estate, which is world renowned as an idyllic coffee-producing farm. The estate is certified by Utz, an independent worldwide certification program that ensures coffee production meets strict environmental, social and economic criteria; it is also firmly committed to sustainability, and treating its employees like family. Some of the environmentally conscious practices at Monte Alegre — located in the coffee growing-friendly climate of the Sul de Minas region — include composting all coffee waste, allowing 20 percent of the land to remain as natural forest for biological diversity, and slashing grass between coffee rows to prevent soil erosion and create mulch. The contest coincides with the release of Limited Edition Brazil Monte Alegre that will be available through March 2012 in grocery stores and online. The coffee is a medium roast, and features a nutty aroma with a hint of vanilla. The sweepstakes runs through March 30th on Peetscoffee.com or on www.facebook.com/peets . Winners will be announced in April. This post is brought to you by Peet’s Coffee. Go to http://www.peetscoffee.com to win a coffee trip to Brazil with Peet’s.
