Click here to view the embedded video. Meet Muki : at face value a cardboard dog, but in reality a DIY children’s toy kit that will encourage creative play . Muki is a simple product with minimalist lines using a very low?-?tech material. ?It also happens to have one of the funniest Indiegogo campaign videos we’ve seen in a while. As a multipurpose toy and a dog kids can call their own, it’s a place they can cuddle and read, furniture they can draw on, and ?a desk their own size. It can also have wheels and become a ride-on toy, ?and can easily be modified into toy box?,? or turned into a bookshelf. Muki is the first product by Growing Up Creative designed by Tali Buchler, and the marks the beginning of a new line of furniture that can do double duty for play.? Muki ?comes packaged in a flat ?cardboard “suitcase,” ?is ?very easy to assemble and Muki and his packaging are also completely recyclable , creating no waste and promoting values of environmental awareness. + My Muki on Indiegogo   + My Muki The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Packed with probiotics, vitamins, and minerals, kefir is a fermented drink  that’s as delicious as it is good for you. Kefirko , a new product that recently launched on Kickstarter , has made the home kefir creation process even easier with its specialized glass jar and dual lid system. With Kefirko, all you need to create your own superfood is a handful of fermentation grains and your choice of milk (dairy or non-dairy ). To make the grain-sourcing even easier, the company has launched Kefirhood : an app that allows you to get in contact with others in your area who are making their own kefir at home (or would like to start), so those in the community can share grains with one another. This fabulous probiotic can be added to smoothies, homemade ice cream, puddings, and more, so consider backing this campaign and make a batch of your own! + Kefirko on Kickstarter The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. It’s widely known that sitting is bad for your health , but a new study of elementary school students reveals that standing desks can actually reduce obesity in children while improving their attention spans. Texas A&M associate professor Mark Benden tested out the theory by introducing “stand-biased” desks into the classrooms of 480 elementary school students in the College Station Independent School District. Each student donned a sensor on their arm to record their “step count” and “calorie expenditure” over a period of five school days. The results? Giving kids more standing time during class time helped them burn more calories – up to 15 percent more than traditional desks – and also seemed to improve their attentiveness.
