Meet the man caring for 4,000 wild parakeets from his home in Chennai, India. Sekar, a humble camera repairman, didn’t set out to become known as the “Birdman” of his town, yet the title developed as people begin to see more and more birds flocking to his home early each morning for their neatly organized feast. Neighbors say watching him feed the birds is “a majestic thing and a spectacular sight,” leaving onlookers in awe of the display. Global warming threatens to run residents out of coastal cities as melting ice caps cause sea levels to rise. Now, a new study released this week suggests some areas of the planet will be unfit for human occupation by the end of this century. Specifically, scientists project that temperatures in the Persian Gulf will rise so high people will be unable to continue living there . The unchecked effects of climate change will impact major cities first, an ironic backlash from burning the very resources harvested in that region. FeltForms are a series of organically-inspired handmade felt acoustic 3D panels. Merging art with function, FeltForms were created to accent the beauty of a space and to provide acoustic improvement at the same time. They can be used as a wall panel, room divider or a window curtain and each FeltForm panel is handmade out of high quality wool felt modules.  The whole collection consist of 6 different modules, offering original patterns. The size of the panels can be easily adjusted to the spacial needs and they can be purchased in over 40 colors. Each panel’s sculptural shape allows the appearance to change over time, depending on the time of day or type of lighting used in the space. + Anna Spakowska The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Aromatherapy pyramid releases natural cedar scent into your space

Designer Anatoliy Omelchenko of Triangle Tree, whose crop circle towels we featured a couple of months ago, has created a new, eco-friendly piece of home decor: the Cedar Aroma Pyramid . When warmed by a simple tea light, the natural oils in the cedar wood  are released, filling the space nearby with a relaxing woodland scent. There are no added chemicals or fragrances; just cedar, warmed by flame. Like most of Anatoliy’s other creations, this aromatherapy piece is incredibly elegant in its simplicity—simple, basic shapes that snap together rather than being held by glue or screws. When the oils on one side of the pyramid have been burned off, it can be rotated or flipped to expose new wooden surfaces to the flame. + Cedar Aroma Pyramid The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
