Football fans in New York will have a chance to channel all of the excitement leading up Super Bowl Sunday with a sports-themed winter playland on Broadway. CBS Studios Installs Six PureCell Fuel Cell Systems at Two California Production Facilities

CBS Studios are going green by installing six PureCell stationary fuel cell systems at two of their production locations in California. The fuel cell systems are produced by  UTC Power and they will be installed at CBS Studio Center (a production facility with 18 sound stages) and CBS Television City (which houses eight studios). The PureCell systems at Studio Center and Television City will together produce a total of 2.4 MW of power, therefore satisfying 40% and 60% of the studios’ electricity requirements. Yesterday I wrote about how CBS’ EcoAd program has been charged with deceptive greenwashing by this blog and other environmental groups.  I was glad to see that the story was picked up all over the world and especially on one of my favorite blogs Triple Pundit . Consumer and environmental groups yesterday sent a formal complaint to the Federal Trade Commission, asserting that the “EcoAd” program recently launched nationally by CBS/EcoMedia is in violation of federal law and the agency’s “Green Guides” for environmental claims.

Environmental Leader reported today that CBS will be giving a stamp of approval, an “EcoAd” visual “digital” leaf on TV commercials, to its ‘eco-friendly’ TV advertisers. The pitch is that every time an advertiser buys an EcoAd package, a portion of the price will fund projects that public bodies have identified as critical yet underfunded. Another eco-label?
