happy new year!

Happy 2010 everyone!  Should you find yourself making resolutions for the new year (new decade!), remember to think small.  Instead of vowing to lose fifty pounds, why not start with ten and work from there?  Quitting smoking is a fantastic idea, but promising not to smoke today (for starters) is much easier to wrap your mind around.  This philosophy works for going green too.  You don’t have to buy a Prius or renovate your home to go green in 2010!  Start by turning off the lights when you leave a room, shutting off the water when you’re brushing your teeth and bringing your own bags to the store.  Before you know it, you’ll be buying gum without plastic packaging, unplugging all of the out-of-use appliances in your home and installing CFL bulbs .  For those of you who have mastered the small things, use the new year as an excuse to kick things up a notch:  consider going vegetarian , starting to compost at home or investing in a CSA .
