Nothing dampens spirits faster than getting caught in an unexpected downpour when camping. That’s why the folks at GO! Outfitters created the Apex Camping Shelter , an all-purpose tarp that protects you and your gear from the rain, wind, sun, and even snow. The lightweight tarp is portable, easy to pitch in multiple configurations, and fits inside a compact stuff sack with all the included accessories. The tarp, which was recently launched on Kickstarter , has already surpassed its funding goal by nearly ten-fold—though it’s not too late to snap up a $59 early bird special . Mollusc is a tent that opens and closes like the hood of a stroller

Comments Off on Mollusc is a tent that opens and closes like the hood of a stroller

Mollusc is a completely new kind of tent that opens and shuts like the worlds biggest pram hood. If the weather is good, draw back the entire canopy and bask in the sun, then if the rain comes in pull the roof back over, clip it down and be ready for any storm. With the Mollusc you can turn an interior space into an exterior space (and vice versa) in 3 seconds. So now you can watch those shooting stars from your sleeping bag then close the tent when the show is over, or catch that dawn from within your tent with a cup of coffee in your hand and your head on the pillow. The Standard Mollusc is 3 meters high and 6 meters in diameter and the Nano Mollusc is 1.6 meters high and 3 meters in diameter. To compensate for the climatic and environmental footprint of making it, 100 trees are planted in Kenya for every tent made. + Mollusc Tents The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. DIY: Build a seat out of your clothing

Comments Off on DIY: Build a seat out of your clothing

Have you ever wished you could make a seat out of the clothes on your back? The people at WeDangle did, so they combined a hanging seat with thin, extremely strong lines and canvas seat with a backrest to make a hanging chair that is safe, light weight and comfortable. The WeDangle has 3 seating positions: as a swing, as armchair and as a ‘chaise longue’. The use of a wide topbar releaves the tension at the bottom and shoulders, the use of aluminium strips gives a good distribution of weight at bottom and back, and last but not least are the head and leg foot support for longtime, easy relaxation. Check out the instructions to build your own. +  WeDangle on Instructables The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. Want to see your story on Inhabitat ? Racchetta by Ivana Mannavola for Formabilio (produced by Live in) is a storage system that you can hang on the wall. Five colorful hexagonal frames can hold objects of different sizes: umbrellas, magazines, coats, remote controls, vases with flowers, and more. These clever objects will brighten up any room, adding catchy compositions (get it?) that also bring a sense of order to our chaotic lives. + Ivana Mannavola The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
