Israeli startup SolarOr has developed a brilliant new transparent solar panel that is modeled after the complex forms found in honeycomb. Called BeeHive PV, the solar panels are designed to integrate into building facades to serve as energy-generating windows . Each sheet is covered with hundreds of tiny prisms that focus sunlight to maximize energy generation. Vegans and vegetarians have been in their kitchen laboratories for years attempting (and sometimes succeeding) to find a suitable substitute for gelatin. Now it seems that a group of scientists just might have done the trick – kind of. Conventional gelatin is made from collagen inside animals’ skin and bones — yes, we know we are ruining your childhood memories — and a group of researchers have managed to replace that animal base with a human one . Nearly ten years have passed since the devastating September 11th attacks , and much contention has swirled around the re-design of Ground Zero. With all discord finally placed aside to mark the decade passed, New York officials are planning a day long vigil on September 11th that will also include the opening of the highly anticipated 9/11 Memorial. Designed by architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker , the memorial takes on a space that inspires contemplation and remembrance. With a green design highlighted by a plaza filled with trees and two reflecting pools sited where the twin towers once stood, New York’s next iconic landmark is one to be revered.
