Generations of girls have grown up playing with Barbie–with her tiny waist and unrealistically shaped feet. Finally, someone has asked the question: what if Barbie dolls looked more like the people who played with them? Last summer, artist Nickolay Lamm decided to show the world what Barbie might look like if she had the CDC measurements of an average 19 year-old woman in America. Fast forward to present-day, and the idea of the ‘average’ Barbie is gaining momentum. Tell us what you think of the design by voting in the Inhabitots poll. My favourite entry in the Architect Barbie Dream House competition didn’t win, but hey, it is a people’s choice award, so it is hard to criticize the jurors. That didn’t stop Globe and Mail architectural critic Lisa Rochon, who asks “Oh, Barbie. You knuckle brain! What were you thinking!?… Read the full story on TreeHugger

All Images Courtesy of Margaux Lange When I was little, my friend and I tore the heads of his sister’s Barbie dolls. After that, the game was pretty much over. Designer Margaux Lange shows a similar penchant for tearing apart Barbie and Ken dolls, but she doesn’t stop there. She takes the dismembered heads, arms, legs, breasts and accessories, and makes some very unique- if somewhat macabre- jewelry…. Read the full story on TreeHugger
