Dental floss may be great for maintaining healthy teeth, but conventional plastic floss is bad for the environment. Goodwell solves that dilemma by swapping plastic for a biodegradable alternative in their recently launched GOODFLOSS , an eco-friendly floss-and-toothpick that makes for easy on-the-go oral hygiene. Sold in boxes of 40, each small biodegradable GOODFLOSS is a quarter of the size of a credit card and comes in a thin sanitary sleeve. + GOODFLOSS The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader. It’s no secret that “clunkers” on the road contribute to greenhouse gas emissions at an alarming rate. A new study from the University of Toronto confirms what ecologists have theorized for some time: just 25 percent of cars and trucks are responsible for causing 90 percent of the air pollution we breathe. Scientists measured the emissions from vehicles in action to find out exactly how their dirty emissions impact our environment, and some of their conclusions were quite surprising. A new study shows global warming is already having significant impacts on Earth in the form of more severe weather events, which will just continue to get worse as climate change continues to further rear its ugly head. Scientists published a report in the journal Nature Climate Change  on April 27 which outlines how moderate global warming caused by emissions since the Industrial Revolution has already quadrupled the frequency of some heat extremes. According to  The New York Times , the report also warns that a failure to control emissions could one day lead to a 62-fold increase in these major heat events. They also noted global warming has driven up the frequency of intense rainstorms by 22 percent since the 19 th  century–a number that could double in this century if things continue on their current path.
