Trees add much more than a spot of shade and a leafy green canopy to our cities. A healthy urban canopy can help our cities thrive with benefits from reducing the heat island effect to raising property values wherever they’re planted. Unfortunately, many tree guards and grates can compromise the health of the trees and pedestrian safety, which is why National Taipei University of Technology student Wen-Hsien Kuo designed the Tree Vase, a recyclable tree support system constructed from bamboo that can change in size as the tree grows. Winner of a 2016 Young Pin Design Award Mark , the adaptable Tree Vase is a stylish and cost-effective solution to protecting trees from damage, while minimizing waste. + World Design Capital Taipei The article above was submitted to us by an Inhabitat reader.
