According to the Guardian , a public swimming pool will be heated by the neighboring crematorium . While called “strange and eerie,” the plan could save the city $23,000 a year in energy costs by using waste heat. It’s not the first time we’ve heard of crematorium waste heat being put to good use , though it might be the strangest..

The recipes are clever in their simplicity and every one I’ve tried has tasted great. Energy audits are usually performed with thermographic cameras and blower tests, but Alex Wilson of BuildingGreen.com describes what I would call the Yogi Berra Energy Audit: “You can observe a lot by just watching.” The principle is pretty simple: the less insulation in a house attic or at the rafters, the more heat escapes through the roof.
