When it comes to China’s pollution problem , it seems like it’s one step forward and two steps back after China recently announced plans to ban coal use in Beijing in a move that environmentalists are calling potentially devastating. Coal has helped contribute to Beijing’s crippling smog problem, so the Chinese government stated that it would ban its use by 2020, but critics worry that the alternative could actually increase smog in city.
